"BRITISH HERITAGE BY DAVID PREECE"
WHAT IT'S ALL ABOUT

Humble Beginnings

Born and raised in the busy market town of Spalding, Lincolnshire in the UK I grew up fascinated with wood and what could be created from it. I knew from am early age this was the profession I wanted to master. I have now been a professional cabinetmaker for the past 26 years. Formerly trained at Basford Hall College, in Nottingham, U.K. graduating with a City and Guilds certificate in Furniture Reproduction and Restoration.

I have pursued my passion for cabinetmaking, and over the years developed extensive knowledge and experience in all aspects of the business.
My repertoire of work includes Custom Kitchens, Wall Units, Bookcases, Mantels and lots more.

"If you can imagine it I can build it"

I offer a stock line of kitchens (JSI) which are very reasonably priced and with different style choices, this cabinetry fits everyone's budgets. In my opinion the most important feature is that the casework is constructed from plywood with solid wood face frames and doors.
In addition I developed a stock line of bookcases, which also meets everyone's budget; because the product is batch produced this enables me to offer the same quality as custom. This product line offers different styles, sizes and finishes. My vision is to create furniture with strong clean balanced lines.

"FOR PEOPLE WHO APPRECIATE THE DIFFERENCE"

Woodwork was always a passion of mine from a young age, starting in my grandfather’s garage, where we would work together on small projects.

After High School my parents and I decided furniture college was the perfect start to my path in woodwork. Towards the end of college and with graduation in sight I decided to apply for a job in the USA through a London based recruitment agency, to my amazement I was hired by Stein Industries in Amityville at the age of 20. The company produced concession stands for theatre's so the work comprised mainly of commercial casework / laminating.

After a 1 year contract in the USA I decided to go and work in London as a Cabinetmaker, I worked in a medium size shop assembling reproduction office furniture. I was soon discouraged by the work and the opportunities seemed unexciting.

I decided to move back to the states and was rehired at my old job, for 5 yrs I worked my way up always absorbing and developing my skill and craft.

After 5 yrs it was time for change, newly married, I decided to take a job in NYC as a head furniture maker/designer for Tucker Robbins where I performed a number of duties including producing one off pieces of furniture and restoration.

At the age of 26 I decided it was time to become self employed, and the birth of David Preece Fine Woodworking took shape, with my first shop in New Hyde Park, NY.

After several years and with some valuable experience under my belt producing custom cabinetry and furniture in the New York / Long island area I moved my operation to South Jersey.

This is where British Heritage Interiors has thrived since 1996 servicing clients from the New York / Philadelphia area.

The British Heritage Brand is going from strength to strength with divisions for British Heritage Interiors, British Heritage Bookcases and British Heritage Kitchens!
